"A JAZZ BEAT IS A DYNAMIC CHANGING RHYTHM." Ken Burns

{RESULTS: Spoiler Alert! A WIN by the Cs!!
After a Q4 that made me weak in the knees}.

Tonight for the Cs let's avoid this remix:
Cs 0 and 5 FIRST franchise year, 1946.
Jazz in the Garden, Hayward is on their team,
Played for Brad at Butler, a childhood dream.

Crawford getting the start (Wallace has a bruised knee),
More passes to and plays for Green we should see.
CRAWFORD FOR THREE!  to start the game,
As point guard will his shot-taking still be the same?

Jazz went on a 14-0 run,
2 fouls on Vitor halfway through Q1.
Finally Bass broke that scoring streak,
Open court for Green where he's at his peak!

GREEN FOR THREE! WALLACE FOR THREE!
Wallace phenomenal off the bench, still a hustler is he.
Cs were down 13, then went on a run,
Cs within 3 at the end of Q1.

Wallace the spark, Olynyk finding his way,
Cs a 38-12 run--this is how we should play!
Humphries in the game! He made his first shot.
GREEN FOR THREE from the Logo spot!

Sully scored just when the half was through,
Cs UP 16 at the end of Q2.
More shots, fewer turnovers, fast breaks, rebounding,
(Crowd's loud) More like Celtics Ball this is sounding!

Again we are witnessing, quietly and with class,
The development and contribution of Brandon Bass.
GREEN FOR THREE! AB finding his rhythm,
When he's playing two guard things go better with him.

Wallace confused about his role, but a Cs Fan
Respects, admires, the impact of our 6th man!
Chemistry, interior passing...LEE FOR THREE,
Olynyk's a great passer! Cs up 22 end Q3.

As has been the hallmark of every Q4,
Cs slow down the pace and have no one to score.
Jazz went on a 21-5 run,
Cs so much dribbling, getting nothing done!

Cs again in Q4 forgot to go to the hoop,
Jazz turnovers bailed out our Green Group.
Cs WIN! 97-87 final score,
We Fans are still sweating after this Q4!

HEARTBREAK HOTEL

Coach Heinsohn's '69-'70 team started 0 and 4,
(no jinx) So no reason to show Coach Stevens the door.
AB, Wallace, Faverani, Bass and Green,
It's a starting line-up before we have seen.

Cs led off with the first hoop--good sign for AB,
Then Jeff Green showing how athletic is he.
Please! No more outside shots from our Celtics group,
We must be aggressive and go hard to the hoop.

JEFF GREEN FOR THREE! FAVERANI FOR THREE!
Crawford first off the bench, two early fouls on AB.
Quiet, skilled and deliberate, Bass is always the same.
An aside: this is Green's 400th career game.

Gotta love Crawford, he's all elbows and knees,
End Q1 within 3, after a 10-5 run, are the Cs.
We all groan, but then...SULLINGER FOR THREE!
Grizzlies--and their crowd--disrupted by Cs' good D.

Wallace aggressive, they call him "Crash" for a reason,
He wants to be the heart/voice of the Cs this season.
Cs shooting the ball well, playing great defense, too,
A composed Green busting out--Cs up 4 end Q2!

Grizzlies came out strong to start Q3,
Suddenly this Gasol broke through the Cs' D.
(Tony Allen looks like Eddie Murphy--just sayin',
Tho' he's not in green, always love his playin').

CRAWFORD  FOR THREE! Oh, what fun--
Bad news: Wallace bruised knee, his night is done.
Green still busting out! SULLINGER FOR THREE!
Cs a 15-4 run, up 6 end Q3.

Cs running hard! COURTNEY LEE FOR THREE!
CRAWFORD FOR THREE! Inspired is he....
Griz Bayless is tough, mid Q4 he got hot,
Olynyk had good looks, just couldn't find his shot.

Bass extended leg, refs calling illegal screen;
Under a minute--no Q4 points for game's high scorer Green.
Excellent effort, moral victory, palavers galore,
Cs left everything they had on this court.

Don't know about you--there's a deep pain in my heart,
These Cs (we!) have worked so hard...for this 0 and 4 start.

EU SOU UM CELTIC--AINDA

At Detroit tonight, wait...Billups is back there?
Plus Smith and Drummond, a challenging pair.
(Great name) Vitor Faverani can play Big D,
He can play offense, too, we are starting to see.

Bass playing Monroe an assignment so tough,
Remember Cs drafted Chauncey--still showin' his stuff.
Q1 Pistons are pounding the offensive glass,
Jennings (in a mask) would rather shoot than pass.

Stevens looking for more shooting from Crawford and Lee,
Q1, after a tough battle,  Cs are within 3.
Hello, Keith Bogans, got a few minutes to play,
Olynyk looks less scared, Crawford's doing it his way!

Cs are getting outrebounded, shots slow to drop--
Will CSN's Carlesimo's (yes, P.J.) talking ever stop?--
Pistons dominating inside, Cs down 10 end Q2,
Cs look passive, no energy--that just won't do!

Q3 FINALLY Jeff Green hard to the hoop, to the hoop!
(Gotta send that message to the rest of his group).
Marshon Brooks sighting, need points from him,
As Olynyk and Crawford find some rhythm.

Q3 Pistons had 9 turnovers, many caused by a C!
On scrappy D, Cs within 5 at the end of Q3.
AB FOR THREE, had to wait til Q4,
Bass has had Drummond, no easy chore.

Q4 Cs a 13-0 run, still hanging around,
Wallace is a leader with the new voice he's found!
Pistons 14-2 run, 10-2 Cs, 8-0 Ps,
Cs turnovers!! A win--out they could not squeeze.

GREEN SOCKS

RED SOX, FIRST WIN IN 95 YEARS AT HOME,
WHAT A GLORIOUS WAY TO START THIS POEM!

At Raptors: AB, Bass, Faverani, Wallace, Green,
2013-14 the first Starters we have seen!
Vitor was told he'd start, just said "...Ok,"
In Europe at 14 his first pro game he did play.

Welcome home, Kelly O, sweet Mom and Dad in the crowd,
Now in enemy stands they'll have to cheer extra loud.
Can't move your pivot foot before on the floor is the ball,
Especially early in the season, that's a travel call.

Hansbrough is playing so it's a physical game,
V-I-T-O-R    F-A-V-E-R-A-N-I    Love his name!
Gotta start liking Humphries ("The Hump"), he can block,
Plus he is aggressive, hustles like a jock.

Cs up 5 at the end of Q1.
Many different Raptors getting it done.
Augustin, DeRozan, Johnson, Ross, Lowry, Gay--
Plus Hansbrough, who's annoying--have led the way.

Raptors struggled with free throws, Cs turnovers galore,
49-37 Raptors, the painful halftime score.
Cs didn't look too much better at the start of Q3,
More turnovers, poor execution and very little D.

Gotta love Wallace, he goes hard to the hoop,
And is a very vocal leader of this new Cs group.
The Hump, AB, Wallace, Bass and Green,
Bring the most aggression of the combos we've seen.

They brought solid play, and at last, some D,
Excited, great playing, JEFF GREEN FOR THREE!
That offensive player getting the delay of game,
If it lands in his hands?? That rule is lame.

JORDAN CRAWFORD FOR THREE, makes your heart stop,
Tie end Q3, Cs 23-8 points they did drop!
I think we are witnessing--with dignity and class--
The quiet development and contributions of Brandon Bass.

Q4 more Cs turnovers we did see,
Raptors won by 6, Cs had trouble with D.
Cs and Clippers have now had the same start,
But the Cs showed promise, energy and heart!

NO-MARSHALL PLAN

In a post-season that's been so very harsh,
Now no more Tanguay (yay),  Greg D. or D. Marsh.
CSNNE has cleaned house, following the Cs lead,
Somewhere, some stability is what we need.

Tommy, Tim Welsh and...Dave Cowens at home!!
On the road with Gorman? AINGE--hence this poem.
Won't that be interesting in arenas near and far,
Having him call games whether we're great or sub-par?

I'm a D. Marsh fan, heard fans thought he was bland,
Eclipsed when by Scal the Cs broadcast was manned.
Feel bad for Dickerson because he is not well,
Where will these guys go? Seems there's nothing to tell.

Also on the road the "look at me" C. Maxwell,
Tho he is annoying, bet he knows his faxwell.
At last it's October when all the fun will begin,
EVERYTHING has changed, still we FANS are all in!!

NO BRIDGE TOO FAR?

Call it tanking, rebuilding? Love a "Bridge Year!"
We fans bleed Green and are ready to cheer.
Maybe, just maybe, things will work out better,
With Adams and Stevens, DEFENSE and a go-getter.

For coaches and players this year's  a win/win,
There will be few expectations when the season does begin.
It is one big audition for players and coaches too,
Unlike with Doc, we'll see what the new/young guys can do!

Still with ever-changing rotations, chemistry will build,
Rondo at the helm, we know he's strong-willed.
Humphries will earn his respect, Bogans has heart,
Along with Sully who will often start.

Second-longest tenured (Rondo 1st) is AB,
Which Green, Bass and Crawford will we see?
Wallace, Lee, the only long-term contracts have they,
Seems Fab might get cut--he is in his own way.

Olynyk makes more than Sully, but has great hair,
Nowhere a mention of Wilcox--is he still there?
Still have Randolph, now Iverson (too bad NOT A), also Pressey,
Think we got Faverani, negotiations seemed messy.

Expect to hear a lot about Brooks after every game,
He is MarShon--what a great name!
Love the Bridge idea, let's just see where we are,
With draft pick assets, there'll be no Bridge Too Far.

Cs: THE DAY

July 12, 2013 will go down in history

To Celtics Fans this is no mystery.
For this will be the day Captain Pierce (DJ, JET) and KG
Became Brooklyn Nets, so painful to see.

Did Ainge do them both a favor? I say he did,
Allowing them to leave together, to join Rookie Coach Kidd.
Retool, Rebuild...all the playing "fields" this evens,
Captain Rondo, Green, AB, Bass (?), plus coach Stevens.

We are no longer tied to our Big Three--or Four,
Had the feeling since May Doc wasn't walking thru that door.
No more holding our collective breath with old guys out there,
Will they get hurt? Too many minutes? Oh, how we did care!

We'll still have Heart (Sully), small triumphs, of course, Celtic Pride,
We have Youth, Analytics, new faces--what a ride!
The Celtics new configuration? We don't have to pray,
All we have to do is Cs THE DAY!

We'll cheer for The Green no matter who's on the court,
Because as Fans, WE still bleed Green--gotta love this sport.
