HAWKING OUR WHERES

In a matinee today, the Atlanta Hawks are in town.
Their Horford--career second pec tear--just went down.
Because of the Nets deal Cs can get their draft slot,
Sully wants to win for Ainge. (no jinx) Expect him to be hot!

There's been lots of talk about Rondo playing D League,
Maybe? To further his rehab, conquer his game play fatigue.
Sully great rebounding, Bass great D,
Green hard to the hoop, where he needs to be!

Cs went on a 6-0 run,
Great--except the Hawks then had the same one.
Hump is playing D, excellent shooting, considerable spunk,
Green running the floor, love that one-handed dunk!

10th straight home game Cs lead--up 3--start Q2.
LEE FOR THREE! STEAL! SCORE! is what he can do!
Olynyk, Wallace, Hump, Pressey keep the momentum going.
Cs a 17-1 run, hard running both ends, no slowing!

Cs' Bench a joy to watch, all hustle and heart,
Nice to see Hump and Lee being a huge part!
The Starters came back, they were very disjointed,
Hawks a 15-2 run--cutting into leads, we're disappointed.

Lead was 18--ugh, but Cs up 5 start Q3,
Sully bruised his wrist. Bench may play more, Brad'll see.
Crawford keeps missing his shots from everywhere,
Hawks a Q3 lead, Cs' Starters' game's not there.

Early Q3 Brad gave the Starters one last chance to play,
Halfway through, can the Cs Bench save the day?
Hawks a 30-6 run, finally OLYNYK FOR THREE!
Crawford tied the game, lay-up! CRAWFORD FOR THREE!

AB to Olynyk, sort of an alley-oop,
Cs a 19-8 run with the solid Bench group!
Cs somehow held on to a 5 point lead start Q4!
Two terrible calls by Davis allowed the Hawks easy score.

Our Big Man running the floor, OLYNYK FOR THREE!
Hump stops and shoots on a dime, so much fun to see!
OLYNYK FOR THREE!! A steal, career high, what a day!
Korver's 101st game in a row, three, record's still in play.

Hawks went on an 14-2 run,
LEE FOR THREE!! Is this fun?
Double double for Milsap, back and forth is the lead,
Hump, Olynyk, Lee, Pressey--more of them the Cs need.

Clock running down, Inspector Gadget Crawford, what a shot!
Some Cs Bench players have double figures, the Starters do not.
End of the game--Crawford's crazy--all over the floor!
Did all that he could, he just couldn't score.

Hawks win by 1 (ouch), but be of good cheer,
Tomorrow is the start of a brand New Year!

Happy New Year, fellow Green-mates....

"THE THRILL OF COMING HOME HAS NEVER CHANGED.". Guy Pearce

Cs at Indy, where Brad Stevens was raised--and born,
This will be an emotional night from the opening horn.
Mutual respect between longtime friends Vogel and Brad,
Among the youngest coaches the NBA's ever had.

Pacers 6-0 run, first C to score AB, AB, AB.
Hard to get fast breaks, Pacers back quickly on D.
Last game Pacers' win over the Rockets was resounding,
Cs--mid Q1 lead--withstanding the early pounding.

Pacers went on an 8-0 run,
As for physical fouls, Cs can hardly get one!
Cs within 3 to start Q2,
Only 30% shooting, no points in the paint, too.

Pacers are huge and rough, throwing the Cs to the floor!
Refs must see the fouls by them, wish they would call more!
If you have ever wondered why Brad is so calm,
You just had to hear the interview with Jan Stevens, his Mom.

Pacers went on a crazy Q2 run,
Cs--no fun--within 15 end Half One.
Cs are walking the ball up, ironically no...pace,
They need to bring energy and fundamentals to this place.

Cs need points in transition, need to make a three,
Pacers converge on the ball, they play Team D.
Green (and Bass) getting pounded, no calls their way,
Geez--they breathe on the Pacers, refs stop the play!

GREEN FOR THREE!! These Cs show heart,
Tho by the Pacers--AND REFS--they're being taken apart.
Again GREEN FOR THREE!! More calls so bad,
Finally end Q3 some call
s--should the Cs be glad?

Best perimeter defenders, George and AB?
Cs within 22 at the end of Q3.
MarShon sighting, the kids are in,
LEE FOR THREE! Cs still trying to win!

Stephenson's triple double was the focus of Q4,
Lots of showboating by him as he got the score.
MARSHON FOR THREE! Good hustle by Lee,
Only Cs in double figures: Green, Lee and AB.

Didn't think the Cs would win, expected a match of skill,
Not a game where for three Qs the refs imposed their will.

IF WE ONLY HAD...OUR GAME

Wiz in the Gahden, Crawford has something to prove,
To the Cs, for not very much, him they did move.
Cs a 7-0 run, SULLINGER FOR THREE!
Gortat can't handle Bass (whom I'm happy to see).

Bass rebounds, good D, blocks, doing it all,
Crawford beautiful floaters; Green can draw that foul call.
Nene off the bench, he is a big boy.
AB FOR THREE, another Q1 to enjoy!

CRAWFORD FOR THREE (he wasn't supposed to do)!
Cs up 16 to start Q2.
Hump playing well at both ends, has a high IQ
(Perhaps except when it comes to saying "I do?")

Q2 Cs' shots starting not to fall
Because they are settling for the jump ball.
Wiz gaining; Sully took a very hard charge,
Knee to the stomach--doesn't  help that he's large.

Every game I wait for Green to bust out--
Punctuated each time with a very loud shout!
Cs up 7 to start Q3,
Where three early turnovers we did see.

Stevens worries about Q3s--gotta agree with him,
Too many turnovers--even the starters  lose rhythm.
Gortat can't guard him, SULLINGER FOR THREE!
He's trying to turn things around--he is the lone C.

Sullinger seems hurt, from that hard charge he took?
Maybe he's just gassed, he always has that look.
Cs great ball movement, Crawford another assist,
To Hump at that spot where he has hardly missed.

Wiz within 1, Bass great rebounding,
But Cs' tough Q3s are astounding!
Webster for three, Wiz (haven't led) tie the game,
What is it about Q3s that just isn't the same?

Clock running down, solid shot by AB,
Cs up 2 at the end of Q3.
Hump can't get a call! AB lighting it up Q4,
Pressey getting guys involved, Hump can score!

Wiz Seraphin is tough, Wall found his three,
Too much dribbling around by too many a C!
2:14 left, consecutive shots, Wiz's first lead,
Some luck with the three is what the Cs need.

Cs free throw shooting hasn't been great,
Same for D and offense in this game, late.
Two awful turnovers by Crawford, right in a row,
Cs bad 2nd half execution--offense was too slow.

AB FOR THREE! Season high 26 not enough,
Never like losses, but this one was tough.

HOWLING SUCCESS

Show no Love to Pekovic--too easy a pun,
Wolves haven't won in Boston since before '01.
Hump's knee is better, his contribution we'll take.
Thoughts? Rondo won't be back til after the All-Star Break!

Wolves Martin is out, he, too, has a sore knee.
First points of the game--AB, AB and AB.
Bass is rebounding well, and playing great D,
Shhh, don't tell! Hate for him not to be a C.

Two early fouls on Bass. GREEN FOR THREE--
Already more points than last the Wolves we did see!
Just seeing calls, especially on Green, so very lame,
Of course, Refs Rush & Kennedy are in the game!

OLYNYK FOR THREE! Cs up 8 end Q1,
These TERRIBLE REFS make the game less fun.
Pressey's the best on Barea, no easy task,
He can also score--Brad just had to ask.

RUMOR: Rivers might be coming to our Boston team,
Austin--not Doc--how weird would that seem?
Wolves bench changed the game, for the Cs less so,
OLYNYK FOR THREE! For a big he's not slow.

Cs--45% shooting--up 1 start Q3,
Wolves a 7-2 run, lots of Pekovic we did see.
AB FOR THREE!! Brewer his usual fast break--
Very loud was the dunk he did not make!

Cs a 17-4 run, CRAWFORD FOR THREE!
AB is everywhere, Hump great play, great D!
Cs up 5 to start Q4,
Wolves do better with their bench on the floor.

Three big saves by Olynyk! WALLACE FOR THREE!
One of the worst officiated games--if you're a C.
SULLY (don't take that!!) FOR THREE! Under two,
Crawford 8 second violation he didn't mean to do.

Green fairly quiet, great rebounds Q4,
If only he would charge the hoop, and score!
Terrific game Sully--free throws--it was tight,
In spite of the refs--IT WAS THE Cs' NIGHT!!

KNICKLE SANDWICH

Knicks in the Gahden, Olynyk off the bench tonight,
No Humphries, his (drained) knee is still not right.
Knicks don't have Chandler, Felton; Shumpert's ailing.
Crawford East player of the week--he is sailing!

KMart is back (ugh). Is Woodson on the hot seat?
Sully hard to the hoop, Bargnani he can beat!
Cs excellent ball movement, GREEN FOR THREE!
Love watching Bradley, great confidence has he.

Clock running down, running  down for Courtney Lee,
No problem...LEE FOR THREE! LEE FOR THREE!
Melo's out of the box--from early Q1,
Cs up 3 when the Q was done.

Good minutes for Pressey and Kelly O,
Great D by Wallace, it's a Cs Bench Show!
Cs a rebounding edge, no one on Sully at the hoop,
A 21-2 run by our Cs group.

Shades of the old Amar'e...wait, LEE FOR THREE!
Few shot attempts by JR Smith, very odd to see.
Knicks ended Q2 on a 13-3 run,
Cs (lost a big lead)--still up 6 at the end of Half One.

Cs doing that jump shot thing to start Q3,
Green coast to coast like we've been waiting to see!
Cs starters are struggling, Knicks took a Q3 lead,
Crawford's shot and aggressive offense Cs do need.

Ahead or behind, play each play, makes no diff,
Brad huddled ALL the guys, that was his riff.
Wallace was inspired, off the pick, to the hoop!
Kelly O great block, ignited the (quiet) fan group!

Knicks keep scoring--pick and pop, pick and pop,
Cs within 5 when Q3 did stop.
Cs walking the ball up, more dribbling we did see,
10-0 Cs run: VITOR FOR THREE, AB FOR THREE!

Neither Green nor Crawford has been able to score,
Still Cs are scrappy, working hard, as they run the floor!
KMart an ab muscle strain, he is out for the night,
18-5 Cs run, AB FOR THREE! This game's tight....

Green came up big, with seconds left in the game,
By 41 or 4, it's a win all the same!

TIMBERRRRRR....

Cs nightmare road trip starts in 'Sota tonight,
Vitor, not KO, starting; Lee's out, wrist's not right.
The Wolves in the playoffs have had the longest drought,
Since 2003-2004 they have been shut out.

Vitor and Rubio, from the same country are they,
Not all that evident in the ways that they play!
AB straight to the hoop, Kevin Martin not much D,
Cs' first six points scored by AB.

Love's a crazy rebounder--sounds like a philosophical take!--
Brewer leads the league with his own kind of fast break.
He's back! We are witnessing, quietly and with class,
The development and contribution of Brandon Bass.

Two nights in a row, for one player the thrills came,
MarShon Brooks was asked to come into the game.
Cs within 9 to start Q2,
In spite of the highlight plays the Wolves can do.

Olynyk great blocks, one with his elbow--he's tall!
Green great chase down blocks, just staying with the ball.
Wolves don't want to defend, they just want to score,
Opponents can afford no mistakes on the floor.

VITOR FOR THREE! THREE! Cs enjoying Brad's "Green" light,
Turnovers sting. Cs some D and energy tonight.
CRAWFORD FOR THREE, AB FOR THREE,
Cs within 5 to start Q3.

Bass along the baseline is very strong,
Vitor mixing up his shots, not just the one that is long.
Wonder why so few shots set up for Jeff Green....
Needs to find his groove--time after time we've seen.

They say Martin never met a shot he doesn't like,
A 9-0 run was the beginning of the Wolves scoring spike.
Fun to watch Wallace and Vitor playing together,
But Wolves' offensive barrage is tough to weather.

Sully's gaining confidence, hard work every night.
Avery Bradley, at the Two, is a coach's delight!
Wow! Wolves' offensive reputation is well-deserved,
Every play is a teaching moment, Cs not unnerved.

Cs down 19 to start Q4,
Brooks getting time--he can score!
Hump saw minutes, Pressey, too.
Wolves hardly miss, not much rebounding to do.

Wolves have a "(Robbie) Hummel Figure" on their team,
He scores from everywhere, or so it would seem.
Cs 10, 11 player rotation may have (fresh leg...) pluses,
But then no player has any rhythm--which no one discusses.

CRAWFORD FOR THREE, just not enough,
This game's not just physically, it's mentally, tough.
Cs a big loss; season high--27--AB!
Bass played well, especially his D.

Each night one C has a game like a dream,
Eventually  we'll come together as a team.

GREEN RUNS DEEP....

REALITY BITES

The Blazers travelled from Portland, they are 6 and 2,
These Cs won't play to their record--that's not what we do!
Sullinger's in tonight, better after his bruised knee,
Effort and Execution we need from each C!

"Consistency is the mark of a champion," so says Brad.
(Hope starting with our Defense being better than we had).
Green hard to the hoop--early--starting to cook,
The Blazers' Lopez is clearly not Brook.

Crawford (on Lillard) getting where he needs to go,
Two early fouls on Olynyk, his rookie-ness does show.
Green keeps forcing the issue, very hard on Batum,
Cs need to show life to light up this "room!"

An aside: Rockets Asik played 239 games in a row,
Til last night! He asked for a trade, they said sit out--no!
Bass is still struggling, cannot seem to find his shot.
Luckily Green and Crawford are active, Sully is hot!

Brad's huddle call?
Our shots will fall!
Cs went on an 8-2 run,
5 TOs, still within 2 end Q1.

PRESSEY FOR THREE, PRESSEY FOR THREE,
More phantom fouls on Vitor and Pressey we did see.
Pressey sloppy turnovers, needs to take care of the ball.
Green's a one-man fastbreak, no plays Brad has to call.

Leading the NBA in points off turnovers is AB.
Feet flat on the floor, FAVERANI FOR THREE!
Blazers started making threes, Cs within 6 end Q2,
Cs need to defend the perimeter, go inside to score.

Green's athleticism is a thing of beauty to see,
Hustle play block, nice shots by Bass, early Q3!
Blazers' threes are falling, they don't look that hard,
Brad's solution: get out there and guard!

WALLACE FOR THREE! Our 6th Man plays hard D,
Blazers' Aldridge keeps scoring, seems unstoppable does he.
Blazers went on a run, Cs within 12 start Q4,
Career night for Sully, tonight's C who can score.

The calls seem ridiculous at our end of the floor,
But they don't explain the Cs' turnovers galore.
SULLINGER FOR THREE! LEE FOR THREE!
SULLINGER FOR THREE! Cs a little more D.

In a game where the Cs' play ('cept Sully) was not exciting,
We finally had a MarShon Brooks sighting.
Blazers so many weapons, of the Cs they got the best,
I think we should be grateful we don't play in the West.

ONCE A BOBCAT ALWAYS A...HORNET

[HOPE? Nope....]

Playing again at home, it's the Bobcats tonight;
A year from now, call them the Hornets, you'll be right!
Sullinger, with a bruised knee, this game will miss,
Look for minutes from The Hump--Humphries--that's Kris.

Brad says Crawford is authentic, just loves the game.
Suddenly a masterful Point Guard, need more of the same!
Wallace, Our 6th Man, in a role he can now embrace,
His energy, hustle and wisdom lighting up this place.

Bobcats now have Big Al, ankle's better, he can score,
Tho he's still lacking D, other end of the floor.
Cs have to adjust--Cats inside outside play,
Green hard to the hoop in his athletic way!

Cats came out strong, Big Al is still...big,
He feels weird in Boston, his first NBA gig.
Tolliver is a problem, he can shoot that three,
Wallace was a Cat, Henderson's Dad was a C.

Energy off the bench! WALLACE FOR THREE!
At the Q1 buzzer--hooray--LEE FOR THREE!
36% shooting, Cs within 6 end Q1,
Cs perimeter shooting (huh?) not getting it done!

Cats among the best defending in the paint,
Easy tonight--in there the Cs ain't.
Napoli's in the building (keeping his beard clean).
He's an inspiration (worst to first) for Jeff Green.

BRADLEY FOR THREE! Green hard to the hoop,
GREEN FOR THREE, Crawford PG-ing this group.
Zeller broke hearts, chose Indiana not Butler/Brad,
Cs within 8 after the tough half (36%) they had.

Cats set the pace, no mas said Brad,
Back to the energy we've recently had!
Tough night for Bass, 4th foul early Q3,
Huge discrepancy in calls (ugh) like we so often see.

Gotta love Crawford, bodies flying everywhere,
Needs to take more shots and stop trying to share.
VITOR FOR THREE, plus a shout out loud,
Finally energy in the building--from the Cs and the crowd!

Cs amped up the rebounding. LEE FOR THREE!
Cs made a run, then slid, within 7 end Q3.
5th foul on AB, early Q4,
WALLACE FOR THREE! Bass finally could score!

"Don't ask for anything, take it!" in the huddle said Brad,
Wish over some of the terrible calls he would at least look mad!
Bass great rebounding in this Q4,
Crawford--knees and elbows--somehow he can score!

Loose balls have found Cats, hardly ever a C,
Cs a poor outing, but as aggressive as they can be!
Cs struggled, never led, from the very start,
Have to admire their Celtics Heart!
